Youngsters inspired by GO GOLD athlete

GO GOLD athlete Sarah Edwards visited Swinford Primary School on September 20th, looking to inspire the next generation of future stars.

Edwards, who is looking to become one of volleyball's future stars, gave a talk on the GO GOLD scheme and even got school children to have a go themselves. The morning session saw Edwards explain about her background and love of the sport, in addition to how the scheme has benefited her aspirations and abilities. The assembly finished with a Q&A session, where youngsters got the chance to quiz Edwards.

The GO GOLD scheme offers funding to support talented athletes and coaches who are recognised as future athletes in the Olympics, Paralympics, Special Olympics and Commonwealth Games.

A part of the National Volleyball Academy, Edwards is originally from Blaby and currently studies at Loughborough College. The assembly is just one of a number of roadshows that GO GOLD athletes are hosting.

This year's GO GOLD applications are open! The deadline to apply is 28th October. To find out more information and how you can apply, visit
