Ladies, get ready to wiggle & jiggle, move & groove during the

This Girl Can campaign week!

Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport (LRS) will be hosting a 'This Girl Can' campaign week from 8th -14th June 2015. The week is full of sport and physical activity taster sessions in partnership with all 9 Local Authority areas with the aim to increase female participation in physical activity. There are over 250 different activities taking place during the week, all of which are free or low cost!

Fear of judgement is stopping many women from taking part in exercise. But as thousands of women up and down the country are proving, it really doesn't have to. This Girl Can is a nationwide celebration of active women who are doing their thing no matter how they do it, how they look or even how sweaty they get.

Whether it's walking or swimming, Zumba or bodypump that excites you, there's an activity for everyone across Leicester-Shire & Rutland:

  • Blaby district will host 38 session including pilates, badminton and karate
  • Charnwood borough will host 14 sessions including beginners running, Zumba and sailing
  • Harborough district will host 39 sessions including body balance, back to hockey and roller disco
  • Hinckley & Bosworth borough will host 16 sessions including netball, cycling and kickboxing
  • Leicester City will host 51 sessions including circuits, buggy walk and canoeing
  • Melton borough will host 29 sessions including horse riding, tennis and bowls
  • North West Leicestershire district will host 10 sessions including legs, bums and tums, boxercise and Nordic walking
  • Oadby & Wigston borough will host 39 sessions including spinning, softball and dance
  • Rutland county will host 37 sessions including climbing, yoga and kayaking

2015 see's the inaugural This Girl Can campaign week, part of a series of targeted weeks hosted by Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport. 2015 will also see the newly branded 'Feel Alive from 65' week in the autumn, with the ever popular 'Active Families Week' back again in February 2016.

A full list of scheduled activities in each district can be found in the This Girl Can brochure, available to download from www.lrsport.org/thisgirlcan.
