Parks & Green spaces in Oadby and Wigston

Parks and other green spaces are great for the local community as they provide an environment where people can meet, socialise, have lunch and relax. As well as helping to contribute to the improvement of the health and well-being of people in local towns. They are an ideal place to meet friends, exercise and generally better both your mental and physical well being with a walk/run/cycle.

The Council has a total of 11 parks and sports grounds of varying shapes and sizes spread throughout the Borough. Our parks and green spaces are available for the public to use free of charge.

"Green spaces in the Borough are essential for everyone in my opinion. In open spaces we can look at new surroundings and greenery and activates our five senses. I am passionate about how important green spaces are for people with disabilities and help with physical and mental health challenges." Community Health Champion

Pride of the Borough (PoTB)

What is PoTB?

The group is made up of individuals, Friends of Parks, Civic Societies, Community Action groups, neighbourhood groups, Councillors and council officers who all work together to encourage people to take a pride in our Borough.

They meet regularly throughout the year to organise not only the East Midlands in Bloom entry but also floral display competitions. We also support other environment based community activities.

They are all volunteers and are always looking for more like minded people to join us. On the 3rd Saturday of every month there is a Monthly Task Force work morning and additional help is always appreciated!
