Walking

Walking

Without even looking like an exercise, walking produces the same physical fitness, health and weight control benefits as high-intensity, high-impact exercises but without the dangers and hazards.

There are many benefits to walking, physically, mentally and socially and the best part is that it is free to do, and can be done almost anywhere!

Guided walks in Oadby and Wigston are:

  • First Wednesday of every month, 10:30 a.m. depart from Wigston Library (1 to 2 miles)

Make new friends and enjoy a stroll with the 'Wigston Wanderers'. The group have been running since 2008 and have grown in size, and have a social drink at Age Concern, Paddock Street, Wigston afterwards.

  • First Saturday of every month, 10:00 a.m. depart from Oadby Grange Pub (4 to 5 Miles)

This walk meet at the Oadby Grange Pub, then drive to a selected location in South Leicestershire to begin a 4 to 5 mile ramble. Walking boots are recommended for this as different terrain will be covered. Following the walk, the group often enjoy a well earned pub lunch.
